Beeper guide
How do I manage contacts within Beeper?
To display your contacts' names in your chats, Beeper receives your chat names directly from your connected chat network.
What contact systems does Beeper support?
- Apple Contacts (only supported on iOS and macOS)
- On-Device Contacts (only supported on Android)
On Beeper Desktop for macOS and Beeper for iOS and Android, the app will request your permission to access your contacts. This is only to Start New Chats. Currently, Beeper doesn't support customizing chat names.
For Google Messages, if you have everything set up under the same Google Account (Android Phone, Google Messages native app, and the connection in Beeper), updating your contact's names on the phone's Contacts app should do the trick.

I already have a contact picture for this contact, but I want to replace it with the one in my address book. How do I do that?
Depending on the chat network, this can happen automatically. However, some chat networks require you to do this in their own apps before Beeper can receive the information. If a contact already has a profile picture in the chat network, Beeper will always prioritize that picture over the one in your address book.
