Viruses Detected on Beeper Desktop
TL;DR: If your antivirus flags Beeper as having a virus, it’s most likely a false positive triggered by a malicious file you received in one of your chats, not Beeper itself.
Why This Happens?
Beeper automatically downloads and indexes your messages and attachments so you can search through them quickly. For example, if you’re in a busy Discord server, Beeper starts loading those messages and files right away so they appear instantly when you open the chat.
If one of your chats includes a malicious file, your antivirus might flag it while Beeper is indexing or saving that file. This can make it look like Beeper itself has a virus, when in reality it’s just detecting a bad file that came through one of your chats.
What Can You Do?
- Check the antivirus alert — it should show the exact file path or name that triggered it.
- Delete or quarantine that file using your antivirus tool.
- Run a quick scan to make sure your computer is clean.
- Rest assured: Beeper itself is safe, the alert is related to a file shared in one of your connected chat networks.
Tip
Avoid downloading unknown files or attachments from chats you don’t fully trust. Even if Beeper keeps things secure, being cautious helps keep your system safe too.
