Beeper Browser Extension
How to Install and Use the Beeper Chrome Extension
The Beeper Chrome extension connects your messaging apps in Chrome with the Beeper Desktop app so you can quickly add accounts you’re already signed in to. It currently supports Instagram, Facebook Messenger, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter).
Once installed, the extension checks which supported sites you’re logged into in Chrome and, with your permission, helps add those accounts to Beeper Desktop without you needing to re-enter your login details.
How to Install the Beeper Extension
You need to have Beeper Desktop (4.2.541 or later) installed and signed in to be able to use this feature.
To install the extension, open the Chrome Web Store page for Beeper:
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Confirm by selecting Add extension.
- Once installed, you’ll see the Beeper icon in your browser toolbar.
We highly recommend pinning it to your browser for easy access.
Using the Extension
Click the Beeper icon in your Chrome toolbar to open its popup and you’ll see buttons for Instagram, Facebook Messenger, LinkedIn, and X.

If you’re currently on one of these sites and signed in, that network will be shown at the top of the popup like this:

Login Status & What You’ll See
Instagram, Messenger, and X
- If you aren’t signed in on this browser, you'll see Log in.
- If you see Log in, it will change to Add to Beeper as soon as you go to the chat network and log in
- If you are already signed in to the chat network in this browser, you should see Add to Beeper.
The popup should correctly reflect your sign-in state right away — you don’t need to re-log-in after installing the extension or restarting Chrome.
LinkedIn is handled a little differently due to browser permission requirements from that site.
- You may initially see Log in, even if you’re already signed in to LinkedIn in your browser.
- Once you visit a LinkedIn page (while signed in), that button will update to Add to Beeper.
Add an Account to Beeper
- In the extension popup, click Add to Beeper for the service you want to connect.
- A new browser tab will open asking you to open your Beeper Desktop app.
- If you get a prompt to open Beeper, choose Open Beeper.
- Beeper Desktop will launch with a setup window prompting you to finish adding the account.
If you are still within your account limit, you'll see the option to choose between On-Device or Cloud connection.
.
- Click Add to complete connecting the account.
- Once finished, the new chat network account will appear in Beeper for you.
💡 Important things to note:
- If you’ve hit your account limit, you’ll see an upgrade prompt instead of the prompt above.
- If you already have a Cloud connection for that network, that option may be disabled.
- You’ll be logged out of the service in your browser automatically when linking it to Beeper — this is part of how the extension hands auth details securely to the desktop app.
- X (formerly Twitter) Cloud connections — if used — may prompt you for a PIN after authenticating the cookie details.
