Tumblr - Getting Started Guide
Beeper connects with Tumblr to bring your Tumblr DMs into your unified inbox. By linking your Tumblr account to Beeper, you can send and receive Tumblr messages — right alongside your other chat apps — all in one place.
Beeper Desktop
- Open the Settings → Accounts
- Scroll down and select Add an Account
- Select Tumblr DMs
- Choose between Beeper Cloud or Beeper Local Connections.
- Follow the prompt to log in with your Tumblr email/username and password.
Beeper Android
- Open your Beeper Android app and go to Settings → Chat Accounts.
- Click '+ Add an Account'.
- Select Tumblr DMs
- Choose between Beeper Cloud or Beeper Local Connections.
- Follow the prompt to log in with your Tumblr email/username and password.
Beeper iOS
- Open your Beeper iOS app and go to Settings → Accounts.
- Scroll down and click 'Add an Account'.
- Select Tumblr DMs
- Choose between Beeper Cloud or Beeper Local Connections.
- Follow the prompt to log in with your Tumblr email/username and password.
Having trouble connecting?
- Make sure your Tumblr account has two-factor authentication via an authenticator app enabled. You might need to complete this on any of Tumblr's mobile apps.

Can I connect more than one Tumblr account?
Though Beeper Cloud only supports one account at the time, you can connect multiple accounts on Beeper Local. A Beeper Plus or Beeper Plus Plus subscription is required to use Multi-Account.

My connection to Tumblr keeps dropping. What can I do?
Try re-authenticating via Settings > Accounts.

Do these features work the same whether I use Beeper Cloud or Beeper On-Device for Tumblr?
Yes. Tumblr's supported feature set is currently identical on both connection types.

Can I react to messages with emoji?
No, emoji reactions aren't currently supported for Tumblr on Beeper.

Will I see read receipts?
Beeper keeps your place in Tumblr conversations, but it doesn't show whether the other person has read your message.

Will I get notified of new Tumblr messages?
Yes. Push notifications are supported, and can arrive even while Beeper is closed.

Can I reply directly to a specific message?
No, inline replies aren't currently supported for Tumblr on Beeper.

Can I send files through Tumblr on Beeper?
Only partially. Images and GIFs up to about 5 MB work, but documents and other file types don't currently go through.

Can I send or receive voice messages?
No, voice messages aren't currently supported for Tumblr on Beeper.

Will my past Tumblr conversations show up in Beeper?
Yes. Beeper imports the conversations Tumblr makes available, starting with your 50 most recent messages per chat and loading more in batches of up to 50 as you scroll up. Beeper doesn't cap how much history it will import, but very large conversation lists may not finish importing everything, and Tumblr itself may not make every older message available.

Can I delete a message?
Not an individual message — Tumblr only supports deleting an entire conversation, not single messages within it.

Can I start a new Tumblr conversation from Beeper?
Not yet. You can start a direct message from within Tumblr itself, but not from Beeper.

Can I edit a message after sending it?
No, message editing isn't currently supported for Tumblr on Beeper.

Will I see typing indicators?
No, typing indicators aren't currently supported for Tumblr on Beeper.

Does Beeper support Tumblr's disappearing messages or View Once/Allow Replay media?
No. Time-based or self-destructing media isn't supported — you may see a notice to open it in the original Tumblr app, or receive it as a regular file instead.

Can I see if a Tumblr contact is online?
No. Tumblr has an activity status, but Beeper doesn't currently display it.
