What happens when I delete a chat network from Beeper? How do I delete a chat network?
TL;DR - Once you've deleted any chat network using the Beeper Desktop app, we will delete all your chats for that network from Beeper.
What happens when I delete a chat network from Beeper?
Deleting your chat network from Beeper effectively wipes all the data related to that specific chat network in your Beeper account. This means that all your chat rooms, messages, and media sent to/received from the chat network will no longer be accessible in any of your Beeper apps (desktop, iOS, Android) as we do not store this information.
Situations where deleting your chat network is helpful:
-
Want to delete a chat?
This is a good workaround for users who want to delete chat rooms in Beeper. Right now, Beeper allows you to delete some messages but not entire chat rooms.
Deleting entire chats is something we're looking to add in the future, so the temporary workaround of removing your chat network from Beeper completely should effectively delete all chat rooms related to it. When you add the chat network back into Beeper, it should pull in your chat history (if supported) without the chat room that you've already deleted from the native app.

Want to troubleshoot your chat network connection?
If you're having problems with your chat network and have reached out to Support for help, it might be a good step to try and start your connection from scratch. Please note that we strongly discourage removing your chat network prior to submitting a bug report to the Support Team.
How do I delete my chat network account?
To delete your chat network from Beeper desktop, you can go to Settings > Chat Networks > select the chat network you want to delete > and select Delete.
On Beeper Android, you can go to Settings > Network Connections > select the chat network you want to delete and follow the prompt.
Deleting your chat network in Beeper won't delete your chats from the native chat network app. It simply removes it from your Beeper account.
Please note that this feature is not yet available on Beeper iOS, so you will need to do it from either Beeper desktop or Beeper Android.
