    Beeper guide

What happens when I delete a chat network from Beeper? How do I delete a chat network?

What happens when I delete a chat network from Beeper?

Deleting your chat network from Beeper effectively wipes all the data related to that specific chat network in your Beeper account. This means that all your chat rooms, messages, and media sent to/received from the chat network will no longer be accessible in any of your Beeper apps (desktop, iOS, Android) as we do not store this information.

How do I delete my chat network account?

    • Beeper Desktop: Go to Gear (icon) → Accounts → select the chat network you would like to delete → and select Remove Account.
    • Beeper Android: Go to Gear (icon) → Chat Networks → select the chat network you would like to delete → and select Sign Out.
    • Beeper iOS: Go to Stack (icon) → Gear (icon) / Settings → Accounts → select the chat network you would like to delete → Remove Account

Deleting your chat network in Beeper won't delete your chats from the native chat network app. It simply removes it from your Beeper account.

Situations where deleting your chat network is helpful:

    1. When you want to delete a chat room from a chat network we don't support chat room deletions for yet:

You can delete chat rooms on the following networks from within Beeper: WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, X, LinkedIn, Google Voice, Google Messages, and Signal. We're working to expand the list of chat networks that support chat deletion.

      - Desktop: Right-click on the chat you wish to delete → Hit “Delete Chat”
      - iOS & Android: Long-press on the chat you wish to delete → Hit “Delete”

For chat networks where we don't support deleting chats for yet, you can instead delete the chat room from the native app and then delete and reconnect the chat network account to your Beeper account. This way, it doesn't get backfilled into your Beeper account when you connect it again.

⚠️ Please note that Beeper offers limited chat history import. Deleting a chat network and adding it back in may result in the loss of some of your chat history outside of the scope of Beeper's backfill capability. Here are our chat history backfill capabilities: Chat History Import

    2.  If your chat network account is disconnected with no option to reconnect:

If you're having problems with your chat network, we always recommend reaching out to Support for help. If Support determines that there is no other way to reconnect your account other than to delete it and connect it again from scratch, you're welcome to do so.

⚠️  Please note that we strongly discourage removing your chat network if you have not yet submitted a bug report to the Support Team.
