Setting Up Notifications on Beeper Desktop

You're in control: Staying on top of your messages is easier when notifications are set up just the way you like them. Beeper gives you flexible control over how and when you’re notified—whether it's for direct messages, group chats, reactions, or typing indicators. This guide walks you through how to configure notifications in the Beeper desktop app, both at the app level and within your operating system settings (macOS and Windows), to ensure alerts are timely, reliable, and tailored to your preferences.

Beeper Settings > Notifications 🔔

This section lets you manage Beeper’s general notification behavior across all chats on your desktop app. You can enable or disable message and group notifications, choose notification sounds, set delays, and control alerts for reactions, typing indicators, and whether notifications appear while the app is in focus. 

Beeper Settings > Accounts

If you'd like to fine-tune notifications for each individual chat network (e.g., WhatsApp, iMessage, Discord), head over to Settings > Accounts and click on the chat network you'd like to change your notification settings for. You can toggle notifications on or off per chat network account, choose specific sounds, and decide whether to show message previews. It's useful for tailoring notification behavior to the platforms you use most. 

OS-level Notification Settings

To ensure Beeper notifications work reliably, system-level permissions must be set correctly.

On macOS: Open System Settings > Notifications and make sure Beeper is allowed to send notifications. Set alert style to Banners and enable all relevant options.

On Windows: Beeper may not appear as a separate app in System > Notifications, but make sure system-wide notifications and notifications for apps are turned on. These settings are essential for Beeper to display alerts consistently across your desktop.
