Beeper Android - FAQs and Unsupported Features

We understand you may have questions about Beeper Android's various features and functionalities. Here's a list of our most frequently asked ones.

Q: Does Beeper support deleting chats permanently?

A: Not at the moment. A workaround is to mark the chat in question as Low Priority using any of your Beeper apps (desktop, mobile).

Q: Does Beeper Android support Archiving and Auto-Archiving?

A: Though auto-archiving isn’t yet implemented, archiving chats is possible. As a note, Beeper Android will follow Beeper Desktop’s behavior. So if you have auto-archiving enabled on Desktop, all chats auto-archived on Desktop will also be archived on Android.

Q: Does Beeper Android support the Android Bubbles feature?

A: Yes, more about it here: Beeper Android - Bubbles

Q: Can I pause a voice message while recording?

A: Yes, starting with Beeper Android v4.61.0. While recording, tap the red dot on the left of the composer to pause, then tap the mic to keep recording into the same voice message. The timer and waveform freeze while paused, and the paused time isn’t included in the audio. You can still stop, preview, and send as usual, even while paused.

    Unsupported Features:

    • Opening of files from within the App (like PDF)
    • WearOS standalone app
    • Blocking other people
    • SVGs won't render thumbnails
    • Sending messages with markdown
    • Spam filters
    • Support for Slack/Discord style custom emojis (you will see placeholders)
