Block and report spam on each chat network, and remove it from your Beeper inbox
Getting spam in Beeper? Here's what you can do about it.
Does Beeper block spam?
Not at the moment. Beeper doesn't filter, block, or report spam messages. Beeper shows the messages you receive on each connected chat network, so spam has to be handled on the network it came from.
The best way to deal with spam is to block the sender in the native chat app (for example, WhatsApp or Instagram) and report the account there if that option is available. Once a sender is blocked in the native app, you'll stop seeing new messages from them in Beeper too.
How to block and report spam on each chat network
Pick your chat network below to see how to block and report spam. If your network doesn't offer spam reporting, check the Limited / no spam reporting tab. To hide or remove the chat from Beeper, see Clean up in Beeper.

These networks don't offer a way to report spam to the network itself, or spam is handled by an admin or your carrier instead. Your best options are to block or ignore the sender where possible, then clean up the chat in Beeper.
Slack
Spam is managed by each workspace. Ask the workspace owner or admin to remove the user or message. For unwanted Slack Connect invites or DMs, decline or block the invitation in Slack.
Matrix
There's no central Matrix network to report to. Ignore the user, and report the account to the admin of the server it belongs to (the “Report” option in a Matrix client sends it to that admin).
SMS / MMS
Plain text messages can only be reported through your phone's messaging app or your carrier. In the US, forward spam texts to 7726 (“SPAM”), then block the number on your phone.
Anything else
If the native app has no report option, block the sender in that app or on your phone if you can, then use the Clean up in Beeper tab to hide or remove the chat.
These options only affect your Beeper inbox. They don't block or report anyone on the chat network.
