How do I manage storage on Beeper Desktop?
See how much space Beeper uses on your computer and clear cached files you no longer need.
Beeper Desktop keeps a local copy of the images, videos, audio, and other files from your chats so they load quickly. Over time, this cache can take up space on your computer. The Storage settings show you how much space Beeper is using and let you clear the files you no longer need.

The numbers in the screenshot above match the steps below.
How to manage storage on Beeper Desktop
- Open Settings: In Beeper Desktop, open Settings.
- Go to Storage: Select Storage in the Settings sidebar.
- Review your storage usage: The chart at the top shows a summary of how much data Beeper has cached on your computer.
- Choose how old the files should be: Under Clear storage older than, choose 0 days, 30 days, 90 days, or 120 days. Beeper only removes files older than the option you choose. Choose 0 days to remove the selected file types regardless of age.
- Choose the file types to remove: Select or deselect Images, Videos, Other Files, and Audio. Only the file types you select are removed.
- Clear the files: Select Clear Storage… to remove the files that match your selections.
- Clear all cache (optional): For a complete cache clear, select Clear next to Clear All Cache. This removes unused previews, old drafts, and temporary data. Your messages are safe.
Note: Clear Storage deletes local data from your computer. You can recover that content by logging out of your accounts and logging back in.
FAQ
-
Will clearing storage delete my messages?
Clear All Cache doesn't affect your messages. Clear Storage removes the local copies of the file types you select from your computer. To recover that content, log out of your accounts and log back in.
-
What's the difference between Clear Storage and Clear All Cache?
Clear Storage lets you choose which file types to remove and how old they need to be. Clear All Cache removes unused previews, old drafts, and temporary data all at once, without any options to select.
-
What does the 0 days option do?
Choosing 0 days removes all files of the selected types, no matter when they were saved.
-
Does clearing storage on one computer affect my other devices?
No. Storage settings only manage data saved locally on the computer where you clear it. Your other Beeper apps keep their own local data.
-
Why is Beeper using storage again after I cleared it?
Beeper saves new files as you send, receive, and open media in your chats. This is expected. You can come back to Settings → Storage anytime to clear it again.
