AI Assistants in Beeper
AI assistants can live right alongside your other chats in Beeper. Depending on the assistant, there are a few ways it can show up in your inbox. This article walks through each one, what's supported, and what to keep in mind.
1. AI inside a network you've already connected
Some AI assistants live inside a chat network you already use. A good example is Muse on WhatsApp. Because the assistant is just another contact on that network, it comes into Beeper through the account you've already connected. No extra setup is needed.
What's supported
- Sending messages to the assistant from Beeper.
- Receiving the assistant's replies in Beeper.
How to use it
- Make sure the network (for example, WhatsApp) is connected in Beeper.
- Open your existing chat with the assistant, or start a new chat with it from the network as you would with any other contact.
- Send your message. The reply will appear in the same chat.
2. AI you add as an account: ChatGPT Dots
ChatGPT Dots connects your existing ChatGPT Dot to Beeper. It uses the Dot's own native messaging, so your Dot keeps its identity, memory, and tools. You're chatting with the same Dot, not a replacement chatbot.
Note: ChatGPT Dots is experimental. It's an unofficial integration and isn't affiliated with OpenAI. Changes on ChatGPT's side may interrupt the connection.
How it works
- You add it as an account and sign in with ChatGPT.
- Once linked, your existing Dot's chat appears in Beeper.
- It connects one existing primary Dot on a personal ChatGPT account or a work or school (workspace) ChatGPT account.
What's supported
- Text messages, including formatted (Markdown) replies from your Dot.
- Images, files, and videos in both directions (up to 20 MiB).
- Task cards whose titles and status update in place.
- Your Dot's emoji reactions, typing indicators, and read receipts.
- Messages received after linking are recovered, even after restarts.
- Your Dot's name. If you haven't named your Dot, it shows as "Your dot", just like in ChatGPT. If you rename your Dot in ChatGPT, Beeper picks up the new name automatically.
Not supported
- Importing regular ChatGPT conversations or history from before you linked.
- Group chats, or creating new Dots.
- Quoted replies and voice notes.
- Sending reactions, typing indicators, or read receipts to your Dot.
- Some native message formats.
Privacy and security: Signing in with ChatGPT gives broader account access than Dots alone. Beeper limits that access to signing in, finding your Dot, operating your Dot's chat, and details for tasks attached to that chat.

3. Grok Bot
The Grok Bot connector links your Grok Bot account to Beeper. Each of your bots appears as its own chat, with its own name, profile picture, and message history.
Note: Grok Bot is experimental and isn't yet a released Beeper network. Mobile setup is still being validated.
What's supported
- Text and formatted (Markdown) messages, quoted replies, reactions, and typing indicators from your bots.
- Images, video, audio, and files. Previews may vary by file type.
- Bots you create, remove, rename, or give a new picture in Grok Bot are synced to Beeper automatically.
- Past message history, with more loading as you scroll back.
- Routine updates, bot-to-bot messages, questions, and approval or permission cards appear as notices in the chat.
- Answering or dismissing a bot's question by replying to it.
Limitations
- Bot names and profile pictures can't be edited from Beeper. Make those changes in Grok Bot.
- Connector sign-ins and approval controls still need to be completed in the Grok Bot app.
How to connect Grok Bot
