What Custom App Icons Does

Customizing your app icon lets you add a personal touch to Beeper. It makes the app easier to spot, helps it match your home screen aesthetic, and adds a bit of fun to your daily experience. A small change, but one that makes the app feel more you.


How to Use It (By Platform)

On Desktop

Beeper Desktop App icon support

Currently, this is only supported by Beeper Desktop on macOS.

 
  1. Beeper Desktop → Gear (icon)
  2. Go to the App icon section
  3. Choose between App icons, Classic icons, or upload your icon of preference.

On Android

  1. Beeper Android → Stack (icon) at the top-left corner
  2. Go to Settings → App icon
  3. Choose between the options and press Apply

Key behavior:

  • Changing this might reset your Beeper chats pinned to your Android home screen.

On iOS

  1. Beeper iOS → Stack (icon) at the top-left corner
  2. Go to Settings → App icon
  3. Choose between the available App icons

Platform Sync Behavior

This feature is per-device. Hence, these changes will remain local.


Tips & Notes

  • Express your vibe – Feeling classic? Go with a bold black or white icon. Want some personality? Try the red or purple doodle designs.
  • Add color to your screen – Texts app gradient and colorful icons from the Classic set add a fun, eye-catching look.
  • Go sleek or soft – Prefer a clean aesthetic? Choose the minimalist white or black icons. Like a softer feel? Use one of the rounded, glowing classics.
  • Try something nostalgic – Bring back the OG Beeper look with one of the Classic icons.
  • Upload your own – Feeling creative? Use the Custom Icon option to set any PNG, JPG, or ICNS file you like (1024x1024 px recommended).
  • Switch it up anytime – Match your app icon to your phone theme, mood, or even the season!

 


Having Issues?

If Custom App Icons are not working as expected, please double-check that you are on +Beeper Plus or ++Beeper Plus Plus. If your paid subscription is enabled and active, and it's still not working, please grab screenshots and screen recordings of the behavior and attach them to a report from the app in question.
