Android Customization: Widgets and Shortcuts

Beeper lets you pin your favorite chats right to your Android home screen. Instead of opening the app and digging through your inbox, a widget shows your recent chats. You can also create shortcuts for easier access to your favorite contacts.

How to add a Widget:

Adding the Beeper Widget to your Android Home Screen is no different from any other app.

1. Long-press the Beeper app to reveal the context menu and select Widget
2. Android will show a 2 x 3 option by default, you can resize it later.
3. Once the widget is placed on the Home Screen, resize it.

Shortcuts:

How to add a Shortcut:

From your favorite and the most used chats, you can add a chat shortcut to your Android home screen. This will let you easily access a chat without having to open the Beeper app and navigate through it.

1. Long-press the Beeper app to reveal de context menu
2. From the chat options, long-press one of them and drag it to the Android Home Screen.

Widgets:

• Why is the widget on my Android device different from the widget in this article?
  • Though the functionality of the widget shouldn't change, the UI might so depending on the OS and UI of your Android device. The widget in the illustration above was taken from a Google Pixel device.
• Why is my widget not changing dynamically to reflect my Android colors?
  • Beeper's Widget doesn't support dynamic themes.

• Can I create shortcuts within the Beeper app?
  • Yes! Follow these simple steps:
    1. Open the Beeper app and go to the chat of desire
    2. Once you're in the chat, select Chat Info (top-right corner)
    3. Scroll down and select “Add to home screen”
    4. Go to the Android Home Screen and rearrange it as you wish
