Upgrade to new Beeper servers

Good news, everyone! Over the last five months, we've been working to improve Beeper’s server infrastructure dramatically, and we are ready to roll it out! The change is straightforward - before, everyone on Beeper used the same server to send and receive messages. Now each person gets their very own server. It's much, much faster and more reliable!

Please switch as soon as possible. It will be mandatory soon to use the new servers.

Instructions

1. In Beeper Desktop, go to Settings → Labs → ‘Upgrade to new Beeper server’ → Click the button. Once the process starts, you will see a spinner for 1 to 5 minutes. Stay there until it finishes. You’ll know the process has finished once the spinner is gone.
2. Now click ‘Chat Networks’ and set up your network connections again. After set up, your entire chat history will be synced (even further back than when you initially started using Beeper) for all networks except iMessage, Google Chat, Discord, Signal and LinkedIn. Sync may take several hours if you have hundreds of chats in each network.

Major improvements

• Everything is fast now! Sending and receiving messages is much faster and more reliable.
• Completely new Slack and Discord connections - dramatically improved
• iMessage bridge has been completely overhauled.
• Full history sync for Facebook Messenger, Slack, Android SMS, and Telegram. WhatsApp: 3-year history sync. Instagram: most recent 20 chats
• The archive works more like other apps now. If you read a message in a native app (i.e., WhatsApp on your phone), the chat will not be archived in Beeper.
